A NOTE FROM THE EXPERTS
In the Cultural Triangle, explore the ancient cities and temples of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa and see the massive herds of elephants in Kaudalla or Minneriya National Park. Also not to be missed is Sigiriya, a feat of ancient urban engineering and planning.

OUR FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR TO GO
The best time to visit Sri Lanka depends on the region you plan to explore. Generally, the best time to visit most parts of Sri Lanka, including the west and south coasts, the Cultural Triangle, and the hill country, is during the dry season from December to March and the inter-monsoon season from April to September when the weather is sunny and dry, and there is less chance of rainfall. However, if you’re planning to visit the east coast, the best time is during the dry season from May to September when the weather is warmer, and the seas are calmer, making it ideal for beach activities and water sports.

INSIDER TIP
Visiting Anuradhapura offers a profound journey into Sri Lanka’s ancient past and spiritual heritage. Explore the sprawling ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, including ancient stupas, monasteries, and sacred Bodhi trees, which are deeply intertwined with the country’s rich Buddhist culture and history.
