Travel to
French Polynesia
Faraway islands – each with a mystique
of their own
Sculpted by rugged mountain peaks and coral reefs teeming with life, French Polynesia is not just the stunningly romantic Bora Bora with its overwater bungalows. This South Pacific archipelago —comprised of 118 islands and atolls— encompasses so much more. From the far-flung islands of the Marquesas, with rich cultural heritage and tattoo lore, to world-renowned surf breaks on the island of Tahiti and legendary scuba diving alongside walls of sharks in the Tuamotu Archipelago, there is so much to explore in French Polynesia.
A NOTE FROM THE EXPERTS
Spanning an area in the South Pacific as large as Western Europe, the total land mass of all the islands adds up to an area only slightly larger than the tiny state of Rhode Island. The Islands of Tahiti are a perfect stopover on your way home from New Zealand or Australia, but also work as a standalone destination for a leisurely beach holiday or romantic getaway.
UNIQUE EXPERIENCES
While many automatically think of Tahiti as a place of relaxation among the blue coral seas, it is also home to many of the top scuba diving locations in the world! The island of Rangiroa is famous among divers, offering clear tropical temperature water to swim through and a bountiful marine life.
OUR FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR TO GO
The best time to visit French Polynesia is between June and August, but we love going in September. This is because September is the driest month with the least amount of expected rainfall and the month with the longest days.
INSIDER TIP
Go and explore the lesser known islands like Mo’orea to find a treasure trove of beautiful hidden waterfalls in the jungle, or take a guided snorkel tour off of Rurutu to see the humpback whales.
