Dubai is an unbelievable city in the United Arab Emirates surrounded by diverse ecology. The region’s ingrained traditions are matched by its innovative push to the future. The city of Dubai is open to travelers who provide a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of departure. Travelers may be asked to wear a GPS bracelet for 14 days for contact tracing purposes.
Dubai is a favorite destination of our president Jacky Keith and her favorite part of this bustling city is The Palm Jumeirah. It is a manmade island, part of a larger structure called the Palm Islands. The island itself was built to resemble a palm tree with 5-star hotels lining the trunk of the tree and private residences on the sandy leaves.
Jacky would never visit Dubai without venturing outside city limits for a relaxing stay at Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort and Spa in Dubai. This private oasis is nestled between the lush palm trees and enticing desert found within the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. While visiting, enjoy a camel trek through the desert, practice the art of falconry or simply enjoy the view of the Hajar Mountain massif in the distance.
Dubai is the perfect destination for any traveler whether you are looking for breathtaking history, state of the art construction, or amazing adventure. Notable attractions for history buffs would include the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood. It includes historic views of historic Dubai, a maze of winding alleyways convening with the Dubai Creek – the very creek which is the original site where the Bani Yas tribe established its first settlement around 1822.
If your interest lies more with the architectural innovations that Dubai has made, look no further than the Burj Khalifa. It is the tallest building in the world. Being located at the heart of the city makes it a natural hub for both tourist and locals. At the base of the Burj Khalifa you will find the Dubai Fountain, the world’s largest choreographed fountain display.
With the desert less than a half hour drive from the heart of the city, you can easily experience the mystique-filled Arabian desert. Discover the magic by going on a desert safari on a quad bike or sandboarding. You can also view the city from above by sky diving from 13,000 feet, taking in the views of the Palm Jumeriah and the desolate desert. If this all seems a bit dry for such a warm place make your way to Kite Beach. This is the spot to perfect any watersport skills, such as wind surfing, while enjoying the amazing view of Palm Island in the distance. Another attraction that is the complete opposite of the desert is the Dubai Miracle Garden. It is the world’s largest natural flower garden, with impressive replicas of famous buildings completely transformed into colorful flower displays.
Even prior to this unprecedented time Dubai was one of Esplanade’s favorite destinations, simply because of the amount of different activities you can enjoy! If you’re looking to extend your Dubai getaway, you may want to consider a trip down to southern Africa. Airlink, a South African Airline has recently partnered with Emirates, making connectivity seamless to Cape Town and Johannesburg.
