One of Esplanade’s dearest friends and clients, Torrie Kohler, recently wrote to us about her latest trip to South Africa and Zimbabwe. Please read on for details about her escapades and some of the great work Wildnerness Safaris is up to!
“At the end of July I flew to Africa for a month. First stop, Robben Island off Cape Town for my 4th Earthwatch project with the penguins. After Robben Island I flew up to Zimbabwe for some fabulous game viewing in 2 different camps. About Zimbabwe – I hadn’t been there since it was Rhodesia but Wilderness Safaris, who run all the camps I visited, does wonderful stuff for the local kids. They close down some of their camps and bring the kids in to teach them about their environment and the animals and how to respect and care for it. Pretty neat. I finished off the trip at an elephant rescue camp in Botswana and got to feed and play with the ellies.”
Thank you Torrie – we can’t wait to plan your next adventure!
