NZeTA, short for New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority, rolls out this autumn. If you are traveling on or after October 1st, 2019 all USA passport holders will now require an NZeTA before leaving for New Zealand.
If you have a trip to New Zealand booked with Esplanade, we will obtain the NZeTA on your behalf for no additional cost.
A brief overview of New Zealand’s new immigration procedure:
The Process: To request an NZeTA, each traveler will need to complete the online form found on the New Zealand immigration website or through their mobile app. The Immigration New Zealand website is the only website that is authorized to process NZeTA’s, so please be aware that any third parties are not authorized. There will be a series of questions which the traveler will need to answer in order for us to complete the application on their behalf.
Processing Time: Travelers will be notified within 72 hours if they’ve been granted an NZeTA. Alternatively it could take as short as 10 minutes.
Costs: Each NZeTA will cost NZD$47.00 per traveler (which includes the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD$35.00). The IVL is each visitor’s contribution to maintaining the facilities and natural environment used and enjoyed during their stay. The fee has been introduced following the strong visitor growth over the past few years, which is expected to continue.
For those clients who have already booked with us and are traveling after October 1st, 2019, we will be touch with you soon regarding the information needed to obtain your NZeTA!
