Why did you join the hospitality industry?

Hospitality seemed the natural port to satisfy my curiosity and eagerness to explore and learn. Also, my Mediterranean character felt very much at ease with hosting and helping people, so it was a natural outlet.

Why Tanzania?

I was very lucky! My first encounter with “real” safari Africa was in Tanzania back in 1994 and I just fell in love with its raw and pure beauty, open spaces, incredible wildlife and amazing people. Since then I have traveled extensively in Africa and across 5 continents and yet I still have a very, very soft spot for Tanzania.

Why Beho Beho?

Beho Beho is an amazing place and any lover of nature and beauty can’t help but fall in love with it! As one of the finest safari camps in Africa, it is not “just” a camp; it is rather a feeling of home away from home. The accommodation is real bush luxury and very much in harmony with the surrounding nature. The views and landscapes are some of the most peaceful and gentle you can find in Africa, the staff are all extremely easy, professional, and friendly, and last but by no means least, the guiding is excellent. While staying in the same camp you can have open 4×4 safari vehicle game drives, boat safaris and real walking safaris! Quite unique.

Beho Beho was a little hidden gem when I first discovered it and it still is.

What type of traveler is best suited to your properties?

Beho Beho is not a place for people who want to just tick names off a list, but rather a place for people in love with Africa and for whom landscapes and experiences are as important as seeing another lion or elephant. It is for people eager to meet the real Africa and forge a strong connection with its nature.

In general, it is not really for the first-timer but for more seasoned travelers who can appreciate its uniqueness.

What is your top insider tip for someone traveling to Tanzania?

I think the best way to really appreciate Tanzania is to come open to experiencing Africa at all levels, not just for a list of animals to be checked off. This country is its people, landscapes and, of course, amazing wildlife.

Leaving behind your need to have everything scheduled and planned can be of great help too… despite the detailed organization, it remains a developing country with the unforeseen always around the corner. And if you open up and relax, unexpected surprises can actually bring lots of gifts!
