The government of Tanzania has just implemented a new process for travelers obtaining visas on arrival, effective immediately. The new process requires travelers to stand in three separate lines: first to obtain a government control number, then pay the visa fee at the airport bank, and finally to allow for immigration to check and issue the visa. These are all separate procedures  and could take up to two hours to complete!

Travelers are urged to apply for an E-visa prior to traveling. This can be done by going to: https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/ and filling out the application.  Most visas are issued within 2-3 weeks after being submitted.

Please note that only the following ports of entry accept the E-visa:

  • Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR)
  • Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
  • Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ)
  • Namanga (road border between Arusha & Nairobi)
  • Tunduma (road border between Tanzania & Zambia

If you are entering through a port not listed above you will have to apply for a visa upon arrival.

Visa Specialists are here to help!  If you would like assistance in applying for your E- visa please contact Visa Service Inc at 617- 266 -7646 or send an email to info@visaserviceboston.com.
