Air New Zealand wins Airline of the Year 2016

Here at Esplanade Travel, we strive to provide the best service for our clients. This has become even easier with Air New Zealand, our preferred airline for travel to New Zealand, winning Airline of the Year for the third year in a row on World’s Best Airlines list. It also took the top spot in the Best Economy and Best Premium Economy categories.

Air New Zealand has been a leading airline for years, because of its continuous passenger innovations, environmental commitment, excellent financial performance and operational safety.

This is Air New Zealand’s third year winning the best Premium Economy category for their innovation in design of their award-winning Spaceseat™, available on the 777-300 aircraft. These seats are wider, provide more legroom, recline 50% further than economy and most importantly recline within their own space, so you never lose any of your legroom. Seating layout is 2-2-2 and features paired seats which have a swivel function so traveling companions can face each other during meals.

The Premium Economy cabin includes upgraded meal and beverage service, only using china, actual silverware and glass – absolutely no plastic! The drink menu is extensive and the food is top-notch. High tea is served during daytime flights with fruit salad and finger sandwiches, and a hot beverage with a pastry are served on evening flights.

Their Economy seats are amongst the largest in the air today, offering a generous six-inch recline. With a 3-3-3 or 3-4-3 configuration depending on the aircraft, they provide on-demand entertainment, headphone set, pillow and blanket. Their unique, award-winning Skycouch seating, available on the 777-300 aircraft and the Dreamliner, is an ideal choice for those traveling with young kids. It’s like having your own couch on the plane!

Air New Zealand has been working for years to reduce carbon emissions by saving fuel and was able to cut fuel use by 15%. They successfully completed the world’s first commercial aviation test flight powered by the sustainable second-generation bio fuel jatropha, which has played an important role in the certification of aviation bio fuels for airlines globally. Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas summed up Air New Zealand perfectly by saying, “The innovation at Air New Zealand continues to dazzle and the airline has rolled out some stunning new technology including innovative tracking of unaccompanied children and a wonderful App to get you a prefect cup of coffee before your flight. Put simply Air New Zealand remains the industry leader and a textbook case of what an airline should be in today’s intensely competitive market.”

With amazing awards like these, the only thing left to do is book your trip and experience Air New Zealand firsthand!

Get in Touch

Esplanade arranged a wonderful New Zealand adventure for my wife and myself in 2020…just a couple of months prior to Covid shutting down the world! During this difficult time for the planet, the staff from Esplanade continued to reach out to us on how they recommended we deal with our travel plans and the expenditures we had previously committed to. They continuously updated our travel plans and made all the necessary adjustments to our itineraries. Almost three years to the day later, we were able to enjoy our New Zealand trip. The reservations, excursions, and overall recommendations made by Esplanade were fantastic! We commented several times that their commitment to the smallest of details was very apparent. Our flights were perfectly spaced, our drivers all showed up on time, and our accommodations and excursions were beyond expectations. We now plan on trusting Esplanade for our future travels to Africa and Europe. We cannot recommend them more.
