While it is not uncommon for Australia to have a dry season, the 2019-2020 dry season has caused devastating bushfires. Our hearts go out to the Australian people, our industry friends and the millions of animals affected during this time. Our thoughts and gratitude are with those out on the front lines facing the fires head on.
Tourism Australia has released a website for bushfire information. A great resource, it provides an overview of what areas have and haven’t been impacted and is updated regularly.
We’re happy to report that a number of areas previously affected have now been contained or controlled. There has been a reduction of alert levels in most of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia. There are many regions of Australia that remain unaffected by the bushfires and we encourage travelers to continue visiting the country, as tourism plays a big role in helping many communities get back on their feet during this time.
