A family trip to the United Kingdom in third grade was the start of Tess Holman’s love affair with traveling. Tess studied International Relations and Diplomacy at Seton Hall University and carved out time to study Arabic in Morocco and backpack through Europe. Upon graduation, Tess joined the Peace Corps and lived for two years in Botswana, where she became fluent in the culture, proficient in the language, and forever in love with the landscape and its inhabitants.
Tess accomplished a huge milestone in 2017, when she traveled to 30 countries before her 30th birthday – and is on a fast track to reach 40 by 40! Now that she is mother to a toddler girl, Genevieve, her next goal will likely include exploring the world with a little one in tow. While Tess’s heart lies in southern Africa, she also has a passion for planning trips to South America, Antarctica, India, Greenland, and anywhere else her clients can dream up!
Tess’s Proudest Travel Moment
“My proudest moment was completing my 2 years of service in Botswana as a Peace Corps Volunteer. It was the most immersive, challenging, and rewarding experience I will likely ever have in my life. What started out as a post-collegiate adventure turned into a major turning point in my personal life and career, and Botswana will forever be my second home. I was even lucky enough to give a speech in the local language to the Former President and shake his hand! In fact, it’s my in-depth knowledge of Botswana that helped me join the Esplanade Team, and I try to recreate the feeling of belonging that I have in southern Africa with every itinerary I plan.”
While working in the non-profit industry before joining Esplanade, Tess didn’t know it was possible to have a career based on her love of exploration. Now she finds herself spending each day talking, planning, and dreaming about her life’s purpose: traveling, learning, and experiencing life to the fullest.
Tess will use her personal travel philosophy while planning your next adventure: When in doubt, just say yes!
